About

One of my most joyful memories is watching a refugee 3 year girl, used to be very silent, laughing with excitement when she first played with a dog. I started volunteering with Bath Welcome Refugees almost a year ago. During my work, I remember sitting with one refugee family and listening to how life used to be before they arrived here... I remember thinking no human should live in such despair and that I was very grateful that their nightmare finally finished.. I remember saying "you are here now and that all gone". Even me at that moment, I couldn't believe it is true and not a sarcastic imagination. That made me think how much more there are that vulnerable and in urgent need of resettlement. I can't act largely but I can do a little bit. I am doing this fundraising to support Bath Welcomes Refugees in their work in supporting our current refugee families in Bath and unaccompanied children, becoming a community sponsor for bringing a new family to sanctuary. https://www.facebook.com/bathwelcomesrefugees/home About myself and this physical challenge; I learned cycling last year. My friend thought at the time that I will never be able to balance. Now, I love cycling although I still make stupid falls. The first time I managed to cycle from Bath to Bristol was last March and since then I am trying to build more bit by bit. Now I can cycle 32 miles. I am going to cycle 100 MILES on 24/25 of Oct. From Caldicot in Wales to Bristol (almost 24 miles) then to Bath (16 miles) then to bradford-on-avon (10 miles) then to Hungerford via Chippenham and Avebury (50 miles). It is not easy for me and I have to say I am a bit worried but I would very much like to do it. I am training now and trying to familiarise myself with the cycling route, which requires map reading skills. So between bruising, getting lost in the fields, getting flat tyres in the middle of nowhere, sweating and feeling cold, I really hope you support me and support my aim.
