Approaching a milestone birthday I felt the need for a challenge or two.
On April 19th I will be kayaking 26 miles from Tower Bridge to Chiswick and back again as part of the London Kayakathon organised by Paddlesports Events. (http://kayakathons.com/) The objective of the event is to raise funds for whatever charity the participants choose.
I've chosen to paddle for Eastleigh Borough & Romsey Mencap. This is a small charity that supports adults & children with learning disabilities, and their families. As a volunteer in the past I've seen how much the charity is valued by the users, and know how much the funds are required. It provides services that are an important part of the lives of people with learning disabilities, giving them a voice, a social life, safety and confidence. You can learn more about this charity on their page and website. (www.ebrmencap.org.uk)
I would really appreciate whatever support you can give, it will mean a lot to me and to the charity.
By the end of the summer, with another couple of events in the bag I hope to have covered over 100 miles paddling long distances in choppy waters, but the Kayakathon in London is the main fundraiser.
