In 2015, Benjamin Barsby met a tragic and untimely passing at the age of 21 whilst studying Law at university in London. Benjamin’s family, partner and friends are determined to mark the loss of Benjamin by working towards helping and creating a more positive outlook for many other individuals, including those who are suffering whilst facing mental or emotional distress. Working with Nottinghamshire Community Foundation (NCF) they have created a new charitable fund in Benjamin’s name, with a primary aim of growing it to build a permanent legacy in support of mental and emotional wellbeing and preventative work in Nottinghamshire and the UK. The two main charities they will, and already have supported, are The Samaritans and MIND. They hope in the medium term to set up specific initiatives with one or both of these organisations in order to achieve their long term aims. Secondly, through the school, the trust will support Nottingham Inner-City Primary School cricket alongside other causes close to Benji and his families hearts. In memory of Benji, I will (somehow) be running the Edinburgh Full Marathon in May this year. Im sure many of you knew Benji and will understand what a great cause this money would be going to. So, please spare any money as its a cause Im sure is close to many of your hearts, and Im also training so hard. Xoxo
