Can you help us start a not-for-profit community bike workshop for the people of Frome?

COVID 19 has led to a huge rise in cycling in the UK, and for many people cycling has become the safest way of travelling. This is the perfect time to start a cycling initiative to help people care for new bikes and fix up old ones.

The Project
I am taking part in a 10 week Community Enterprise Start up course this September and my team’s challenge will be to set up a travelling, pop-up community bike workshop on an electric cargo bike. The aim is to run outdoor bicycle repair and maintenance workshops across local estates and neighbourhoods, and a repair service for those who cannot access existing commercial services. The project is being developed by Edventure Frome and Frome Missing Links with support from Frome Town Council, and is in response to a local need on behalf of a local not-for-profit, to help people get around safely in the age of COVID 19 and gain skills for looking after their bikes, as well as cutting carbon emissions.

My challenge
I have always loved traveling on 2 wheels and in order to help raise funds towards the project, I will be cycling a 79km loop from Frome through surrounding towns and villages, passing by Nunney Castle and Glastonbury Tor. The cycle will take place in the first week of September, before I start the course on 7th September.

I will be updating my progress on this local giving page.

Your Support
I am looking for your support towards the project, and all funds raised will go directly towards setting up the community bike workshop. Anything you can give will be much appreciated, whether it be just £1 or sharing advice/knowledge of your experience with similar community projects.

Thank you so much for your support and I look forward to (hopefully) being able to help YOU with your bike repairs soon!
