Q1. Why am I jumping out of a plane?
Q2. Why am I supporting VOICES - I haven’t been in an abusive relationship so why do I care?
It’s hard to explain but most of us have difficult times in our lives. I’ve had some rough times so life hasn’t always been a bed of roses but hopefully I won’t be landing in one of those! This is something I can do for the good of others.
VOICES deserves your support (please and thank you) because they do some extraordinary work in supporting people who’ve been in abusive relationships. I know someone who works there and it’s not always easy what they do but the passion VOICES has for their clients is humbling. They see each client as a unique individual and work from there.
VOICES will go the extra mile and then more miles and ten thousand miles more if necessary to give a client the chance to navigate their future with confidence, knowledge and the chance to make a difference if they want to.
It sounds dry and gloomy and domestic abuse certainly isn’t sexy but VOICES is full of warmth and care and skill. When someone comes from a place that can be scary, confusing and dismantles their very being they will find themselves with specialist support that understands, gives time and will do whatever it can to help.
If the person I loved most in the world was struggling in an abusive relationship or struggling having left an abusive relationship this is the place I would most want them to go to.
So I hope I never have to use VOICES but I hope you will support me in supporting them because we will all meet people at some point who will be affected by domestic abuse and all the work that’s done at VOICES makes a difference.
