I am supporting HERA, an inspiring organisation that works with victims of trafficking and provides support through professional training to help women returning to the workforce or formal education.
In HERA's own words: To prevent trafficking and re-trafficking in London and Seattle, HERA provides intensive entrepreneurship training, monthly business seminars, and trained business and career mentors. These interventions are designed to promote the economic independence of women survivors. HERA's model is currently being implemented in the United Kingdom in partnership with Imperial College Business School and in the United States with Seattle University's Business School.
My knees will sadly not support a 10 mile run but my husband has volunteered to do the running whilst I'm doing the fundraising for the amazing HERA cause.
-- What your gift could provide?
£25 - transport for up to three women to attend a monthly business seminar
£100 - transport for a student to attend entrepreneurship training
£500 - a grant for a woman-owned venture in Central/Eastern Europe
-- Any donation you can spare is welcome and will make a real difference!
Over 360 women with an equal number of mentors have gone through HERA's entrepreneurship and mentor training. From data obtained over the past three years, 85% of these women have gone on to obtain employment or apprenticeships, enroll in college, university or professional training, and/or start new ventures. No matter what future they choose for themselves, HERA encourages young women to take an entrepreneurial approach to their career development.
