I have just started working for NEWCIS as a Wellbeing Officer. We are launching a Big Lottery funded Carers' Wellbeing Project in June 2017. I am looking forward to meeting many carers and supporting them to access services in the near future.
NEWCIS is the largest provider of carer services in Wales – delivering information, one to one support, advocacy, training and counselling to carers who provide unpaid support to family or friends. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.
As part of Carers week 2017, myself and a few colleagues have agreed to cover the round trip of the areas NEWCIS offers a service. We support unpaid carers in Denbigshire, Flintshire and Wrexham, carers who give up so much of themselves to care for their loved one with little recognition of their own wellbeing.
I plan to cycle ten miles as part of the Triathalon and I will make sure I have my water and inhaler at the ready!! I would be very grateful for any sponsors as the money raised will help provide a Christmas party for hard working carers.
