A team from Margaret McMillan Tower - Maria Riley, Natasha Ford, Judith Kirk, Emma Davis, Fiona Albone, Rebecca Pearson, Phillpa Degnan, Neil Hellewell, Katie Hopton, Sarah Dunn, Angela Wood, Stuart Atkinson, Tahir Majid, Elaine Wright, Paul Scott, Caroline Levene, Heidi Hardy, Mel Lalor and Lindsay Fallon (Maggie's Slayers) will be taking part in a dragon boat race at Roberts Park on 7 May 2016 to raise money for the Lord Mayor's Appeal:- Bradford Hospital Children's Charity A new children’s ward is being built in Bradford on the BRI site with state of the art new facilities for acutely poorly children and young people from right across our District. This new build will transform children’s services and really improve the conditions (environment) for children, parents and carers. The NHS will meet the costs of the new building but the added extras that will make a hospital stay more bearable and comfortable will not be covered. This is where the Bradford Hospitals Children's Charity comes in. On their wish list is a sensory room, multi-use gym for those children with cystic fibrosis and innovative distraction toys and games as well as beds for parents who are able to stay with their children and help with their care. Spread a Smile Appeal Small grants for organisations and smaller groups across the Bradford District. There are some fantastic things going on across the District organised by the community and voluntary sector and often it can be difficult for groups and organisations to find funding for their projects, events and activities. Dragon Boating is a sport that started in China 2,000 years ago and came to the UK in 1996 as a community sports activity - it has now developed into an exciting high adrenaline teambuilding sport where crews work together in unison in order to get their boat down the course and over the finishing line as fast as possible. Please support our event by sponsoring your friends and colleagues. Thank you.
