I am raising money for Leeds Tidal, an awesome global justice organisation working to grow and support activism in Leeds. Tidal works hard to expose the links between international debt, trade injustice, poverty, climate change and depletion of the planet’s resources. On a local level it supports, connects and inspires a large number of community initiatives and facilitates the sharing of skills, information and expertise. Recent successes include hosting the vibrant Leeds networking event “Educate Agitate Organise” this April, with over 30 skill-sharing workshops. It also runs training events and conferences, supports local community projects and was the driving force behind setting up Leeds activist hub website Leeds for Change. Tidal has also been instrumental in getting the council to act on climate change and fair trade, campaigned on fuel poverty, debt, tax justice, waste and much more. Tidal operates on a shoestring budget and relies on donations and grants to continue its hard work. That’s why I’ve decided to join the walk and help raise a few bob for Tidal. The overall goal is £2000 which will help employ the coordinator to support global justice action in Leeds. If you can spare a couple of quid that would be amazing! In return on the 24th of June, I will walk 24 miles over the Three Yorkshire Peaks in 12-14 hours. This includes Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Ingleborough (723m) and Whernside (736m).
