Funding has been awarded by Yorventure for the resurfacing of the paths. Cemetery Friends volunteers will cut back shrubbery, clip hedges and plant bulbs. A refurbished seat will be placed so that people can enjoy the beautiful green space.

The paths have been closed for health and safety reasons so this part of the cemetery cannot be accessed. Many people who are significant in the history of Scarborough are buried here and the unique layout of this area will provide a peaceful area to stroll and enjoy the trees flowers and monuments.

This beautiful section of the cemetery will be reopened, enabling people to enjoy the whole of this green space and explore the history encapsulated in it. The improved appearance and accessibility of the paths will encourage more people to actively use the cemetery, benefitting their health and wellbeing. Greater footfall in the cemetery will further contribute to the reduction in anti social behaviour.
