Everyone knows how I am glued to my phone, computer, iPad, tv… you name it… 24/7. To be honest, not being able to watch my favourite tv show or be able to go on snapchat or instagram for a whole 24 hours... well... learning to do open-heart surgery sounds like an easier task than that! HOWEVER, if it means I get the chance to help Focus West London, this is a challenge I am willing to face with 100% commitment.
This means, I will be giving up all screens and connected technology for 24 hours.
Focus West London is a Saturday club for children in the autism spectrum. Each child attending learns vital play, social and language skills in a fun, nurturing and child-centred environment. Every child is provided with a volunteer therapist trained in a highly effective behavioural intervention. Families have the opportunity to hear expert speakers on a range of topics relevant to their child's needs, as well as socialise and connect with other families facing similar challenges.
Autism-specific services like this are rare and badly needed. I have personally been with Focus for 3 cohorts, and the idea of it going away truly saddens me. So help us continue Focus so more children and parents can receive the support they need.
It's a difficult climate for charitable organisations like Focus and this year we are facing a funding shortfall, so your sponsorship really matters.
