Matthew’s Fundraiser - The Well Suicide Prevention

At the start of 2024 I set myself the personal goal of running a marathon and on New Years Day signed up for the Belfast City Marathon which takes place on Sunday 5th May.

With my training well under way, I have had the time to think about a meaningful and deserving charity for which I can fundraise and use this opportunity, not only for personal growth, but to give back to the local community.

The Well is a community wellness hub that operates within Kilkeel and the surrounding areas providing essential support for positive mental health, emotional well-being and suicide prevention. 

Working as a healthcare professional, I appreciate the importance of mental health resources and crisis support. 
In Northern Ireland, mental health problems are the single largest cause of ill health and disability. Statistically, one in five adults in Northern Ireland has experienced a mental health problem.
This is why I am asking for help in fundraising for these essential services so that those affected in our community can receive the appropriate treatment and interventions at an early stage.
