Hi everyone!
This coming September will see me battling through mud, ice, fire, and electricity. I will be climbing up and leaping from tall structures, running and swimming just over 11 miles, and altogether putting myself through one of the toughest race events on the planet designed by the Special Forces. This should give you quite the idea...

In doing this, I am raising money for both the Leeds' Asylum Seekers Support Network (LASSN) and a new project called Meet and Travel Together (MATT - total coincidence!). All funds raised will be split fifty fifty, with LASSN ringfencing the money for MATT. LASSN is a wonderful registered charity set up in 1999 to respond to the unmet needs of refugees and asylum seekers living in Leeds, most of whom experience acute isolation, mental health issues, language difficulties and immense uncertainty over their asylum claim.
LASSN have also provided me with support in creating the new MATT project. We aim to reduce stress and anxiety for newly arrived and vulnerable asylum seekers needing to make their way to various government appointments in Leeds. The day they are about to face already has the potential to be overwhelming, frightening, emotionally charged, and mentally and physically draining. Made to recount the traumatic experiences that forced them to leave home and seek asylum in the UK, there is also a very real threat of unwarranted detainment, with the potential of forced deportation. It is our hope to provide some amount of moral support through volunteers who travel with them, as well as alert the relevant groups should our service users be detained.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could help me support these two projects, as funding is always tough to find. Any amount is phenomenal, even if it's only £1.
You can find some more information on LASSN's website here -

Thanks so much in advance!
Matthew
