I will be carrying out a Sky Dive on the 17th May 2019 @ 12pm. The aim is to raise Awareness and Fundraise for our grass roots Charity Aurora Project. Having had personal lived experience, of dependant alcohol use, this is close to my heart. During my own recovery, I suffered with severe anxiety, depression and panic attacks. What better way to overcome the vertigo and anxieties that crippled me for so long, by jumping out of a plane!
People “Working Together, Through Treatment, Towards Recovery” works. People need People, and offering support to others more vulnerable than themselves, emphasising and utilising their "lived experience" of treatment, selflessly giving up their time still amazes me. Aurora Mentors have been through treatment themselves, and there is an empathy, understanding and rapport that you really can't describe unless you have "been there", offering empathy and understanding that money can't buy.
Supporting and encouraging people not to give up on their own lives, is what makes me proud to be a part of this great project. Every one of the Service Users, Volunteers and Mentors are unique, sharing their own stories to help and empower others.
Please support this sky dive for recovery, just sharing the post would be amazing - Thank you! X
