I am a mother of two boys Harry and Sam and it was a struggle to conceive them and their births were not text book. Both have been medically challenging and after 13 years we are still battling to get them support they need. Through our journey I have shouted, cried, broken down and asked why me, when navigating to find out a diagnosis and support. I have grieved for not having "text book" children.
We are now at a stage where I have Harry who is autistic and Sam who is ADHD. They are so far apart on the spectrum that is is a continual learning on what works for each of them. Like most mothers I want the best for my children, yet the systems we have in place, are too long, challenging to access. A dear friend of mine referred me to SPACE. Since then I have learnt so much about their conditions, gain parental support and use their services to help find diagnosis and discuss what support can be accessed. They even have events for the boys where they are made to feel alive and normal without bullying or shame.
I am fund raising for SPACE so that they can offer more services and raise awareness to everyone that they can help you and life then becomes easier, filled with laughter, love and fun.
