I've had so much fun out of sport, playing and coaching rugby most of my life, and having recently retired felt that I should be giving something back especially to help youngsters get the benefit I've been lucky enough to enjoy. So my niece Hayley's comment that Sporting Family Change based in Bath were organising a charity cycle ride was opportune.
I haven't ridden a bike since I was at school (!), but decided to join the SFC event to help raise funds - I thought "how hard can a few miles on a bike be?" and bought a second-hand bike.
Then I learnt it was from Bath to Paris over 4 days...............whoops, that's gonna be really uncomfortable!
But it's a great cause - SFC works with kids within their family unit to help them develop and grow their potential through sporting involvement and opportunities.
I have paid for this challenge myself, therefore every pound goes to the charity, so however much or little you can give really will help local children and their families.
