On Saturday 9th September 2017 I will partake in the Dart 10k swim from Totnes to Dittisham along the river Dart. This is the first time I have attempted any serious distance swimming and whilst the training is going well, I am certainly starting to feel a little anxious about the big day.
The training has been/is still quite tough. In total, during the 13 weeks leading up to the swim, I will have swum well over 100km in preparation. That's about the same as Bude to Penzance, or Bude or Taunton as the crow flies. Fingers crossed the training will serve me well.
If any of you kind folk would like to sponsor the swim, I am doing it in aid of St. Petroc's Society who provide accommodation, support, advice, training and resettlement services to single homeless people in Cornwall. Within resources available, they strive to provide the best quality of service possible. Their primary aim is to provide these services to people aged 16 - 65 years and for whom no provision is made within the community, either statutory or otherwise.
If you would like to sponsor the swim but do not have a debit card or means to pay online, please let me know as I can take cash donations and register them on your behalf.
For those of you that are not in a position to be able to sponsor the swim but would still like to help, the charity are also in need of donated goods such as blankets, bedding, shoes, waterproofs etc. Visit their website for further information on ways to help out if you can.
