On June 21st some friends and I will be sailing in the Eddystone Charity Pursuit Race to raise much needed funds for Plymouth based Horizons Children's Sailing Charity.
The Eddystone Pursuit will require us to sail out to the Hand Deeps buoy from Plymouth and back to the finish line - a 26 mile sailing marathon!
We will be sailing in a 20ft open keel boat (Miss Muffet) with a crew of 4-6, challenging much larger (and much more comfortable!) yachts to win the race.
The winning Charities will be determined by the number of points won - earned through both the amount of sponsorship raised and our finishing place and so we would please ask you to sponsor us. All donations will be shared between the winning charities to enable us to continue working to support the beneficiaries.
More information about the race can be found here: http://www.eddystonepursuit.org/
The Charity:
Horizons is a children's sailing charity who aim to help disadvantaged and disabled children from the inner city communities of Plymouth. We provide learning and educational opportunities that increase self-confidence and improve social and practical skills, through the experience of water-based activities that would normally be beyond their means.
All of our programmes and activities are designed to boost self esteem, develop self determination and self belief by managing situations they would not normally find themselves.
Our activity programmes do not have to be certificated or outcome based. All activities are child centred and designed to maximise their experience and physical enjoyment, whilst giving them a personal and achievable goal in a safe but challenging environment.

Thank-you for taking the time to read this - your support will be very much appreciated by the children to whom this will make so much difference.
