I am running the Virgin Money London Marathon on 28/04/19, this will be my first Marathon, and though maybe a little too premature to say - I hope it is not my last. Everyone who knows me well, will know that motivating myself to get out and run is not difficult as it's become an integral part of my life and wellbeing, so why sponsor?
I want to raise money for Sandy Bear, a local based charity which 'aims to provide intervention to children and young people aged 0-18, and their families who have experienced a bereavement that is impacting upon their emotional health and well being' They also work 'with young people and their families who need bereavement support, or anticipatory grief work, for example, when there is a family member with a life limiting illness.'
Sandy Bear was fundamental to me and my family when we lost my brother Luke at the age of 15, and without their support the grief would have been much more debilitating. Thanks to this great charity, I learnt how to cope with grief and its stages at such a young age, Most importantly it enabled me to be forever thankful for the many years I did spend with Luke, and to cherish the memories and remember him for the truly great person he was.
Sandy Bear is moving to a new premises, and still looking to get themselves settled in their new place, so I'm certain they would benefit from any sponsorship. The Charity really does deserve some recognition for all its hard work and support it gives our local community. However big or small the donation, it would be very appreciated from both the Charity and myself.
Thanks,
Natalie
