We are an NCS group of 14 teens at 16 years of age who have come together to challenge ourselves in order to raise money for the John Eastwood Hospice. This hospice relies completely on donations and fundraisers and we chose it due to its close relationship to some members of our group - whom have lost members of their family and spent their final days in the residence of the hospice.
To raise this money we have come together and shared ideas, coming to the decision of some events we believe will benefit the charity the most. We will set up a store at Derby University on Thursday 9th to kickstart our fundraising, selling sweets, drinks and accessories to the final wave of NCS participants. We will then be holding a sponsored ‘jumpathon’ at I-Jump on Monday and Tuesday w/c 13th. This will be a 12 hour bounce, split into 2 sessions, all 14 of us will be taking part. During the time people aren’t on the trampolines, they will be tending a raffle or collecting donations from other visitors in the centre.
We are also in the process of confirming a ‘bike the distance’ of the places we have been during our NCS experience (Tour de NCS). This will be a total of 350km: calculated as the total distance from Mansfield to Tawd Vale camp site to Derby Uni to Mansfield again. This will take place at Lammas Leisure Centre in reception and all members of our group will take it in turn to cycle a certain distance as a race within our team of yellow team and blue team to match the hospice colours.
Advertisement of the charity and selling of raffle tickets will also be encouraged by our team members throughout the weeks. As a group our aim of £250.00 should be achieved through our fundraising, however any donations are appreciated and we wish to exceed this target to its full potential.
