If you are reading this then you will probably already know that last September a good friend of mine, Neil Polson, passed away suddenly and in tragic circumstances. Neil was quite possibly the most genuine and kind hearted person I've have ever had the pleasure to meet and I count myself lucky to have been part of his life. Being largely responsible for getting me into mountain biking there isn't a ride goes by without Neil in my thoughts. Some of his closest friends and I set ourselves the challenge doing something memorable in commemoration of Neil and decided on attempting the Coast 2 Coast cycle ride and then the Great North Run back to back, culminating with the run and what is the 1st anniversary of Neil's passing. What started out simply as a challenge in memory of Neil has grown into a far more appropriate tribute. Neil was a keen mountain biker and as his ashes were scattered by his family in Hamsterley Forest we are working in conjunction with the Hamsterley Trailblazers charity to build a commemorative mountain bike trail in Neil's name and give something back to the place and community that Neil was such a part of. The proposed route for the new trail will also go past the spot where Neil's family chose to scatter his ashes. So, the dates for the challenge are; C2C, 9th/10th September GNR, 11th September You can read more about the trail build here: http://m.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/14243893.Mountain_biker_to_be_remembered_with_legacy_trail_in_County_Durham_forest Thank you for visiting the page and thanks in advance for any kind donation Chris
