Neil completed the RideLondon Surrey 100 sportive last year for the first time ever and is now hooked. It was such a great ride and great crowd that he thought he would do it again. The ride this year is on July 30th and Neil has convinced Niamh and Ronan to ride with him on the 100 mile course out from London into the Surrey hills and back.
Last year Neil rode in support of Bikeworks, a social enterprise in East London he has been volunteering with for a few years now. Niamh and Ronan thought it was a good project and everyone is supporting the social enterprise again this year.
Here is a little background about the project we are fundraising for this year:
The employment and training programme runs accredited bike maintenance courses for long term unemployed individuals or those with learning disabilities. The people who complete the courses are able to get jobs in bike workshops or within the retail industry. By running these courses Bikeworks are providing options for people who have dropped out of the employment cycle but wish to get back into work and do a practical job which is rewarding and in a friendly environment. The success rate of the courses is really good - in the last couple of years they have got over 40 people back into work.
Please do support us and the great work Bikeworks is doing, thanks!
