8 children would attend weekly for a period of six months. Each session is two and a half hours. An hour is spent with the horses and the remainder in our clubroom working on horse related team projects, arts and crafts, literacy work. During this period the children will go on at least one educational equine based trip out and do some volunteering for Ride High.
Why they need our serviceWe have a waiting list of 45 children. All of these children have been referred to us by childcare professionals because they are in urgent need of support. We would like to start a new group of 8 children in March.
Plan and expected resultsIn each child: 1. A significant increase in self esteem as a result of: - Learning a new physical skill - Making friends - Trying new things in a safe environment free from criticism and/or bullying 2.A noticeable improvement in communication skills and ability to work with others 3. Improvement in behaviour and/or self confidence outside Ride High as reported by parent/carer and or school 4. An improvement in willingness to try new things
