This Easter Lara, Keith & Jali will burn off their Easter eggs by getting on their bikes to ride coast to coast across Ireland to raise funds for 2 very worthwhile causes - Cruse who provide invaluable support to bereaved people in Norfolk who are finding life tough and the non-profit making Hindolveston Community Gym where they live. "It's going to be quite a challenge - we've only been able to get out training since the snow melted and even then have been caught in sleet and hailstorms!"
Why they need our serviceSome people can find it incredibly difficult to find a way forward following the death of someone close. They may have experienced significant trauma and become 'stuck'in their grief. Relationships, families, jobs may suffer. It can lead to social isolation. Trained Cruse bereavement support volunteers help them understand their grief and find that way forward. It is free and available to anyone. The Gym offers a great local and affordable amenity but is reliant on local effort to keep it going!
Plan and expected resultsThe Community Gym is non-profit making and is there to help anyone local keep fit...we want to keep charges low. Cruse has to raise £40,000 entirely by local voluntary effort to maintain their free service in Norfolk. With this amount, they have trained 53 bereavement support workers who are all seeing at least one bereaved person. It would be FANTASTIC if we could raise £1,000 towards that for them so they could concentrate on doing what they are good at rather than fund raising!
