Raised bed frames are constructed from scaffolding planks, to make rectangular enclosures about 2' (60cm) deep to fit the available spaces: e.g. 5' (1½m) wide and 20'(6m) long. These are then filled with manure and topsoil. This structure makes it easy to plant, water, weed and harvest.
Why they need our serviceRaised beds make access for gardening easier, as much of the need for bending and squatting is removed. This is good for anyone, but particularly the less physically able.
Plan and expected resultsBy adding more beds in currently unproductive spaces, the members will have more work to do (which they enjoy), more produce to share, and we'll be able to reach out to more people.
