Niall, Jess & Fasial- Sleepout for the Homeless

Niall McKenna, Jessica Elder and Faisal Kadiri are getting involved in the QUB Raise & Give sleep out for the Homeless in aid of Shelter NI - one of 4 QUBSU RAG charities. On Tuesday the 5th of December we will be joining students and staff from Queen's University Belfast to brave the cold for the night. Homelessness is a daily reality for many people in Northern Ireland. Sleeping out for one night won't give us the full experience of homelessness and all the difficulties associated with it, but it will give us a very valuable insight into what a night sleeping rough feels like and what homeless people go through on a day by day basis. Shelter NI's mission is ‘To promote and facilitate the provision of sufficient decent and affordable homes to end long term homelessness and eliminate poor housing’. They believe everyone has a right to an affordable, accessible, decent, warm and safe home and to legally protected security against the loss of that home. They aim to reduce the risks associated with and the impact of homelessness and poor housing on households by raising awareness of housing and homelessness issues and by innovating, promoting and participating in effective long term solutions.
