There comes a time in every man's life when he tires of wearing the face he was born with and seeks the gentle caress of a stranger's fist to rearrange it into a new and more comely form. Thus, on the 12th of May I will be stepping into a boxing ring for a charity boxing match in aid of Tonic Music for Mental Health. Tonic raises awareness and challenges the stigma often associated with mental illness through music and art events and is a local, Southsea based charity. Approximately 1 in 4 people worldwide will be affected by mental or neurological disorders during their lives, so many of you reading this will have experience with one or more of these conditions, either directly or indirectly. Many more of you (hopefully) will also have some direct experience of the healing and transformative power of music! Charities like Tonic that use the latter to combat the former need and deserve as much support and help as possible, which is why I’m offering up my ragged visage as sacrifice to their cause. I'll be climbing into a boxing ring for three rounds with a hulking beast of an opponent whose only motivations in life are doing good work for charity and beating face (I assume), so I too will need all the support I can muster. So please give generously and for those of you who would like to see me getting punched in the flesh, let me know as I have tickets for the show available! THANK YOU
