On Saturday 14th July I am running 10k over obstacles through mud for charity. Why? I haven't run anywhere since 2011 and don't like getting wet and muddy so I have questioned this myself but at a Jeremiah's Journey fund raising event last year I felt invincible and before I knew it I had signed up! Jeremiah's Journey helps children through bereavement. Often the rest of the family is also grieving themselves and cannot provide that crucial focus the child needs. My brother was still at school when our father died and in those days there was no local charity like this to provide the support. I admire my brother so much for everything he has achieved despite what he had to go through but children should not have to go through that alone and that is why we so need to ensure that charities like Jeremiah's Journey are there for the children that need them. So dig deep and make my run worth while. Let me feel that the pain and bruises were all worth it - even when I can't walk next week and am still trying to get the mud out of my ears and fingernails 2 weeks later!
Hope you enjoy the day. When it aches just remember that its all done for a good cause. Paul
