Diverse Abilities Plus has a dedicated nursing team who administer 300 medications per week, monitor children's health, deal with emergencies like fits and even save lives. Diverse Abilities needs funding to increase and enhance the charity's nursing team through a further two nurses. This larger team will provide a range of additional activities across the whole of Diverse Abilities Plus, to support more children with complex disabilities and medical conditions in many more ways.
Why they need our serviceDiverse Abilities provides specialist nursing for children with such profound disabilities that they can only go to a school with medical experts on hand. However, the charity needs to be able to extend this nursing support across it's other services from overnight respite to care at home, and attendance at school holiday clubs. This is vital for families who need as wide and full a program of support as possible in all areas of their child's life, simply to help them cope.
Plan and expected resultsThe charity's Nursing Team will provide regular training for all care staff across the charity, an on call service, visit children in hospital to provide continuity of care, run courses and clinics for families and provide nursing support across all Diverse Abilities' services to help more and more children and young people. Without this nursing team children will miss out on the normal life they deserve, may not reach their potential and their families will continue to struggle.
