Team Fundraisers
Every day we take for granted some of the simplest things available to us.
* A cosy bed,
* A hot meal,
* A warm shower
* A safe place to stay.
These things that we consider to be almost a given, are not always available for everyone.
Homelessness in this country is on the rise and with mounting debts, frozen wage rises and unemployment all having its impact, a lot of families struggle to get by.
In some cases, their needs are so dire that they may need extra support. This is where shelters and food banks play a fantastic role in helping to provide that much needed support and get people back on their feet.
I have had the pleasure of speaking with many volunteers and groups who lend their time to run these wonderful havens. I felt it was my time to do that little more to help from my part.
While the government sits idly by, we don't have to. The actions of ordinary folk can make a huge difference and together we can make a difference to someone who needs it.
From 10/02/18, until the end of March, I will be doing a number of things to raise as much funds and awareness as I am able to. Firstly, I will be personally giving up the following:
1) No Alcohol
2) No Take Aways nor fast foods
3) No Sweets, Chocolates nor Treats
All three of these are to highlight that not everyone has access to such luxuries.I will still be purchasing some of these, but they will be added to my collection, see below.
Also, I will be collecting food items to go to the Open Door food bank in Stoke on Trent. For this I welcome donations of:
* Tinned foods
* Dried foods/ packet foods
* Biscuits
* Cereals
* Toiletries.
* Other Non Perishables
At the end of March all items collected will go to the Open Door Food Bank as well as any funds raised too.
Please do support this fundraiser and together let's show those in need that we are there for them, no matter what they may endure.
A spare quid really can make all the difference.
