OldTwatOnABike - Cyling the Hebrides for Mencap

Old TwatOn A Bike A journey down the Western Isles from Stornoway to Vatersay – on a bloody bike in the wind and rain. Around 180 miles of pain and beauty - probably be 200 with my tendency in life to get lost and wander off the point and the subject OK - I'm Pete Bennett and I'm old"ish". I’ve never done anything like this before, that includes both writing a travel blog and doing a cycle ride of this nature, so it’s amateur and crude ( in several ways), but hopefully slightly amusing, maybe a little entertaining and mostly enlightening about one of the most wonderful places on the planet that you should put on your lists, bucket or otherwise. Plus, it’s about pushing yourself just a little bit - as an old(er) male or female git. Is git gender neutral, not sure, I've probably offended someone there ... The aim is to tell you about the journey and the place – the Outer Hebrides or The Western Isles as they’re known as well, a place of unrivalled beauty So-I’m not doing it just for charity, I’m doing it for me However I’ve been seriously moved by the work I’ve been doing in the Learning Disabilities space in the last 12 months, and the brilliant and inspiring people I’ve met and worked with in the UK and in Canada, so there is a donations page for Mencap Croydon. They are a team I met recently a few times at one of their Day Centres, so if you’d like to help them do more and help those they provide such an amazing service to then the link is here on the site PLEASE DO DONATE Personally it’s been a tough last few years, although that’s a relative statement in the light of many others, but this is just a small challenge I’ve needed to set myself This could well be a “one off”, in which case it could be the end, on the other hand it could be the beginning of a series of little jaunts, who knows…. So there may be more Old Twat adventures, there may even be more Old Twats out there who want to join in – and I may inadvertently started a Movement !! Pete B
