Omer has been visiting the Harbour Project for four years and it was in 2017 when the Harbour encouraged Omer to join their running group, that he discovered his love for the sport. Since then, he has made many friends through running - finding a sense of community in both his running clubs and through the support he has received from the Harbour. Omer feels that running has changed his life.
After 2 years of training hard with his coach, Omer has decided to participate in the 2019 Swindon Half Marathon again, hoping to achieve his personal best of 1 hour 18 minutes. His goal for the future is to take part in the 2020 Paralympics! He is looking to give back to the Harbour Project with the money raised throughout this challenge.
In order to open the Harbour Project drop-in facility for a week, it costs around £1600 - used to give help and advice to asylum seekers and refugees. As well as to run activities and classes to help shape a safe and supportive environment for the 450+ visitors, like Omer.
Any donation you make towards Omer's £1600 goal, will contribute towards another week of opening our doors, staff being available and support being accessible for those who really need it.
