Yes, you read that right. I, eater of share size bags of crisps, am running the Bath Half for the first time in 2020!
What has possessed me to do this you ask? Have I finally lost it? No, not yet!
My sons nursery, First Steps Bath, needs help raising funds to deliver their excellent childcare service.
First Steps aims to improve outcomes for young children by working with their families and their community to raise aspirations. They achieve this by providing quality, inclusive childcare and family support that enables children to access education and learning in a warm and welcoming environment and supports their parents back into education, training and employment. This is particularly important in the pockets of deprivation within the communities in which First Steps works. From the new Indices for Deprivation data, Twerton West and Whiteway are within the 10% most deprived areas in England, whilst Twerton and Whiteway West are in the 20% most deprived areas. 35% of children in Twerton are living in poverty, the highest level in Bath and North East Somerset, and 27% in Southdown.
Our experience in just a short period of five months has been wonderful and has touched our lives as a family. We are so grateful for their service.
So please, dig deep and help me raise £500 for this charity which is so close to the Hilferty hearts!
Thank you from all of us!
