We are moving our service to The Bolthole (see photo). It's a large, vacant, old building in need of some TLC to bring it into the heart of our community. We need to make some immediate refurbishments so that the wing is habitable and we can deliver the core services of YES from here. In the short term we need to find funds for the rent and running costs. Our plan is to establish a community cafe, workshop space for young people and eventually provide emergency housing for homeless young people.

Why they need our service

YES has outgrown its current premises and we're moving to a bigger home! Some years ago, in a major town consultation, the need for a community hub for young people was identified. Since then YES has been actively seeking suitable premises - and, at last, we have now secured it. A very generous local benefactor has bought the old URC church and will be leasing it to us from January 2011. The community are fully behind this exciting, high profile project and its potential to expand our reach.

Plan and expected results

Our aim is to completely refurbish the building making it an open, airy, welcoming, accessible centre for all. With space for music gigs and recording, cinema nights, tea dances, community events, The Bolthole will be a place to bring generations together which will benefit our whole community. We aim to nurture local enterprise initiatives with real opportunities for young people to flourish and achieve. Most of all, The Bolthole will be a home for some of our most disadvantaged young people.
