On Sunday 3rd October I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of Southern Road Primary School where I work as a teacher. I'm fundraising for Newham District Foodbank, a local service that provides emergency food to people in crisis. Their foodbank is part of a charity called Ascension Community Trust. All donations will go directly to the foodbank.
Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems.
