I am very fortunate to be running my third Virgin London Marathon, I took part last year with my brother Ian, Anthony Leatherbarrow and Scott Davidson. It is definitely the hardest thing I have attempted but also the most satisfying after I crossed the finishing line after a gruelling 26 miles. This year we have been fortunate to have gained 6 places. Anthony Leatherbarrow once again is taking part and we have 4 newcomers to the Virgin London Marathon. Gary Judge, Callum Shaw, Luke Daley and Jenny Rooney.
The charity that needs support is st vincents, Catholic Blind Institute, Liverpool Reg Charity No. 1102657. Alan Mccumb a close friend of mine lost his sight in an accident in his early 30s . Christopher Grange provided a centre based rehabilatation service for blind and partially sighted people. The focus is on promoting independence and choice. With a lot of support Alan has gone from strength to strength learning important new life skills. Currently Alan is studying at Liverpool Hope University. Alan never moans and always looks for the positive in all situations. The positivity shown not only by Alan but also by the other users of Christopher Grange will form the basis of keeping me going all the way through the 26 miles to the finishing line in the 2014 London Marathon.
