In 5 weeks time (Saturday 7th May) I will be experiencing probably the worst chafe of my life, as I am aiming to run 50 miles in the Pennine Barrier Ultra marathon. The route is hilly to say the least - starting in Malham and then covering Malham cove, the Dry Valley of Watlowes, Malham tarn, Fountains Fell, Janet's foss and slap bang in the middle we run the Yorkshire 3 peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
I have only run marathon distance once, but anybody who knows me knows I don't like doing things by halves 🙃 so I thought why not go for an ultra next. I'd like to raise some money for charity whilst doing this, and there so many amazing ones to choose from. However if you have time, read a little about The Principle Trust's Children's charity.
The charity has several holiday lodges around the UK which are there solely to provide breaks and holidays to children suffering from difficulties such as long-term, life threatening or limiting illnesses, disabilities, mental health issues, or overcrowded inadequate housing. Some of the properties have been adapted to meet the needs of those children with disabilities or special needs.
I think during the pandemic we all realised that we took a hell of a lot of the simple things in life for granted, when suddenly we were unable to do what we wanted and our freedom to travel and holiday was taken from us. Some of these families and children experience this day to day, and the charity aims to provide a safe and fun environment within their holiday homes, enabling these children to have fun, create memories and improve their quality of life.
So please support me in possibly finally founding my limit of pushing myself to the max 😅 and help me raise some money for an amazing charity at the same time xoxoxox
