Okay, life got complicated on 18 May! I was on a business visit to the US when I had to be admitted to hospital resulting in two surgical procedures ending with my gall bladder being removed.
The upshot is that I won't be fit to ride the Nightrider event in 2015. But we still need the funds and I've done all the training, so with an approach of reverse sponsorship (?), please feel free to sponsor me *not* to ride!
Cheers, Phil

I grew up in a family where a bike was a regular means of transport. My parents cycled to work, my brother, sister and I cycled to our schools. I cycled as a student and to my jobs, when distance allowed.
The B4044 is a strategic route into Oxford from West Oxfordshire, and cyclists and other traffic feed in from Witney, Stanton Harcourt and the surrounding villages. I used to ride it when I worked in Botley - that’s why I’m involved in the campaign.
There needs to be a transformation in the approach to transport in Oxfordshire and particularly to active travel - walking and cycling. Everyday key commuter routes such as the B4044 are the starting points and there needs to be investment in infrastructure to reduce congestion, increase individuals’ fitness across the community, and allow children to cycle safely to their schools.
The B4044 Path would be a real route for real journeys, where thousands of people from West Oxfordshire have asked for it. The Path would make this key road safer and more efficient for all road users.
Please sponsor me for the ride!
