The photography project will run for 12 weeks on a wednesday afternoon between 4:30pm and 6:30pm as an afterschool club. Young people will learn the basics of using a camera; taking photographs about healthy living and healthy eating. They will also learn to mount and frame their photographs. Ultimately, this will lead to the young people holding an exhibition to show off their work to the public. The project starts on 11th May, and will be led by a professional photographyer in Eilidh Thomson.
Why they need our serviceAs with all of our activies and after-school clubs here at Elgin Youth Café, our Photography project helps looks at helping socially excluded Young People. As identified through our general evening activies and membership records, we also struggle to maintain the interests of young people between 15 and 18. Thus, this photography project is exclusive to Young People aged 14+ in hope of appealing to them with the idea of taking part away from their youngers. Its also interesting and educational.
Plan and expected resultsThe main feature of this project is that it is specific to young people aged 14+. We would hope this will help to appeal to the older group of young people, with the café predominantly aged between 11 and 15; hoping that some seperation from their youngers will offer some appeal. Otherwise, we expect and hope that the project will prove informative, interest, help with social inclusion, offer positive rewards through the exhibition and recognition they will receive, and enjoyment value.
