Play Opportunities are school holiday and after school clubs run for children with physical and learning disabilities, and autistic spectrum disorders. The sesions enable them and their families to have fun together in a safe and supported environment. Play Opportunities can include soft play sessions, trampolining, swimming, activities at parks and playing fields and much more.

Why they need our service

Many children with disabilities experience profound isolation, which greatly affects their communication and social skills, yet many cannot access mainstream clubs, holiday schemes and facilities. Play Opportunities tackles this by giving families with disabled children a chance to get out and about and enjoy themselves; visiting places that many may not even attempt by themselves thanks to the support of our dedicated carers. It lso supports siblings development and enjoyment of life.

Plan and expected results

Diverse Abilities' Play Opportunities sessions provide a safe environment for children with disabilities and their siblings to all play together, while their parents and carers not only get a break from the intense care and attention needed to look after their child, but also get the rare chance to meet up with other families coping with similar situations, share experiences and peer support. This is invaluable to families.
