My name is Rachel and I am a trustee for The Faye Knowles Chapman Foundation, a charity which was created in memory of Faye Knowles-Chapman, who sadly lost her battle with cervical cancer in March 2013 at the age of just 27. Our aim to raise awareness of cervical cancer, particular amongst young women and educate them on the importance of cervical screening.
Our charity has sucessfully secured a place in this years London Marathon, and at the last minute my friend Edward Helme has stepped in to run the marathon on behalf of The Faye Knowles Champman Foundation. Now im sure many of you lovely folk would pledge in your droves if I was to attempt to run the London Marathon. Seen as though its more than likely that I would still be running it in 2019 I think its best I leave it to a proffesional such as Ed. That said I would like to help Ed raise the sponsorship he needs to enable him to do the Marathon
As anyone who knows me will tell you, I am fond of a drink or two on a weekend and as a result 'Rachel is going Dry!' As January is also Cervical Cancer Awareness month, this is an ideal month to choose. However I dont think one month is enough of a challenge! Therefore I will be abstaining from any alcholic beverages for 3 months! I have decided to continue my 'dry spell' into March 2016 to mark the 3 years it will be this year since we sadly lost Faye to cervical cancer.
Any money that I raise through this sponsorship will all go towards The Faye Knowles Chapman Foundation so please sponsor me whatever you can and help support this worthy cause. I have not had a drink since New Years Eve, but as like many of you will have done I did have a drink after midnight! Therefore my Dry spell officially started on Sat 2nd January 2016 and will end at midnight on Sat 2nd April 2016 - exactly 3 months! Sponsorship will remain open until April 24th which is the day of this years London Marathon.
Many many thanks in advance for your support!
