The Children's Fund makes awards of small sums to help children in times of high need. In response to requests from health visitors, social workers, school nurses and other professionals a dedicated panel meets every two weeks to consider requests. They are experienced in their judgements but only able to help if we have the resources to do so. We are therefore keen to raise £10,000 to ensure the Fund has the ability to respond compassionately and swiftly to the most pressing cases.

You may be surprised to learn that we were recently asked to help to buy a new bed for a 15 year old girl whose bed had to be fumigated with the mattress destroyed because of bed bugs. Her disabled father was unable to afford to pay for the bed. She is just one of the many examples we see of children in Cambridgeshire living in households that really struggle to provide for their basic needs.

We have had some generous offers of help - from fund raising parties to one off small donations. All donations help and if you can encourage others to get involved in whatever way they can that would be appreciated by us and by the children and families we are able to help.
