One of the trees in this area had to be removed as it was deemed to be unsafe.(see photo) The base of the tree trunk was kept and the Friends of Heaton Moor Park have plans to transform this with the help of tree artist, making it a central feature within the play area. The photograph gives an example of the type and standard of work which can be achieved. We plan also to add a safety play surface below the carving and returf the adjacent area.

Having preserved the tree stump this piece of artwork will add a new dimension and excitement to the Toddler Play Area.

From our previous experience of the enjoyment given by the carved animals in the Woodland Walk, we are sure visiting children will grow to love this feature.
