Redbridge Foodbank (RFB) is a project for the prevention or relief of poverty, primarily by the provision of emergency food but also related services with ongoing client support.
This appeal is to fund the renovation of a disused space and create a warehouse; After 6 years of negotiation a 600m2 space has been secured from the local authority, it needs extensive renovations to repurpose it as a community asset for the benefit of local people in need.

Building communities: RFB is a community organisation built and powered by the dedication and care of the local community. With a 200+ strong volunteering team RFB is a true and beautiful representation of our community looking after each other. The renovation project will allow RFB to enhance and expand it’s community collaboration; When the new facility is open, the current distribution centre will have the space to create a cafe environment, where clients can be welcomed with refreshments and an informed & trained volunteer who can not only lend a sympathetic ear but has the tools and knowledge to help and empower clients onto a pathway of security and resilience.

Lasting Impact: Once the renovation project is complete this building will stand as a testament to the strength of community empowerment; As well as revolutionising the work of RFB in the short, medium and long term, this renovation project embeds the charitable use of this building for many years to come.

Cost of living crisis: Since 2017 the work of Redbridge Foodbank has grown exponentially with referrals for emergency food rising by 220%. Most recent data shows that Redbridge Foodbank gives an average of 67 parcels each day. The cost of living crisis means that the Foodbank gives out 28% more parcels now than at the height of the pandemic. The cost of living crisis not only effects those at the lower end of the economic scale but has also impacted people who would consider themselves "comfortable" this has caused a significant drop in donations meaning Redbridge Foodbank has to purchase food stock to top up donations given by the public.

The warehouse will relive financial, operational and physical pressure on the charity, meaning it can better target its time and serving those in need.
