I know that it seems people are always asking for sponsorship but we would really appreciate your donations to help support a cause close to our hearts.
One of our close friend’s children Oliver suffers from ASD (autistic spectrum disorder) and we are looking to raise funds for his school by taking part in a 60 mile cycling sportive event in the new forest in April to help support the work they do with Oliver and children like him. As a bunch of mostly unfit, cycling novices this will be a challenge, especially with only a couple of months to train!!!
ASD symptoms are grouped into three categories:
Problems and difficulties with social interaction
Impaired language and communication skills
Unusual patterns of thought and physical behavior
There is currently no cure for ASD. However, a wide range of treatments, including specialist education can help improve symptoms.
Oliver is 6 and is a wonderful little boy and his parents have struggled to get him correctly treated for his Autism until very recently. It has been difficult to find a school to help support and develop his learning and communication skills as well as understand and work with his behaviors.
Luckily Oliver was accepted into The Redway School. The Redway is a severe and complex learning difficultly school for students aged 2ys/19yrs old.
Since starting at the Redway Oliver’s behavior and communication skills have improved massively. His confidence has grown and his ability interact with people is getting better all the time.
Louise (Oliver’s Mum) “Olly has changed so much since attending the school (1 year now) it has made a massive difference not just to him but to us as a family”
The Redway School is in need of raising funds to help children like Oliver and others with learning and behavioural difficulties. They are currently looking for funds for a new playground for their students.
Please remember that every penny counts and all donations will be welcome!
