We run programmes of activities that are about creativitiy and expression. We make use of storytelling and a variety of performance techniques as well as a range of creative digital media to develop and record personal stories as well as shared issues that are impacting people's lives.
Why people need our service
Ripple Effect works with people who are marginalised or experience a range of disadvantages by engaging people in meaningful opportunities that can increase their sense of well-being and confidence to make changes in their lives through connecting and working together. Our creative opportunities support people to articulate their lives and experiences in order to influence, challenge stigma and bring about wider change.
Plan and expected results
In the year prior to lockdown, 55 people engaged with our activities the majority of whom were in in recovery whether from addiction or mental ill health. Our programmes have helped people to develop strategies for managing, coping with and reducing stress. People have been able to express themselves through projects like 'Talking Heads' and Ripple Effect Theatre group which re-worked 'The Little Match Girl' to become 'One Last Hit' with the young woman dying on the Streets from an overdose. Currently we are working on storytelling project called 'WE ARE THE STORY: A LIVING NEWSPAPER'
