Rising Stars Youth Theatre Juniors for young people aged 11-14, originated from our Creative Community Project completed in 2011.The group has been running since April 2011 with participants developing both drama and basic leadership skills. They perform regularly and receive accreditation for their involvement. Juniors can progress to the seniors group once they reach the required age.
Why they need our serviceWe create situations where participants can see themselves in a positive light and grow in confidence, to see themselves as active and empowered young people and to create opportunities for their families to see them in a positive light. We believe that bringing people together as we do can create greater cohesion and we encourage young people to be proud of their background and confident of who they are. GSA creates opportunities for young people to achieve.
Plan and expected resultsWeekly sessions give the opportunity to our young participants to develop the skills to facilitate their own drama sessions and devise and create high quality theatre performances based on their own interests and community issues. The programme is truly youth led as the young people decide the area of interest on which to focus and even facilitate some of the sessions themselves. We also bring in industry professionals to work with the group.
