Please support Touchstones Child Bereavement Support and its vital, transforming work!
Touchstones is a small local charity dedicated to offering high quality and life-transforming bereavement support to around 100 children and young people aged between 5 and 18 each year. These children are extremely vulnerable and are all struggling to cope with the immense trauma of losing a mum or dad, brother or sister
Touchstones provides high quality one to one counselling support sessions to help these children and young people cope with the pain of their bereavement, reduce their isolation and enable them to develop the strategies they need to move forward with hope so that their emotional, social and educational development is not impeded and they are not further disadvantaged by their loss.
Touchstones also run group activity days bringing children together so that they can feel “normal” and learn that they are not alone. Experienced, trained volunteers staff these days, with feedback consistently showing they are a truly transforming experience for each child.
Referrals to Touchstones come from families, Children Services & directly from schools observing children with deteriorating behaviour, performance and attendance. Many of the children are at risk of exclusion, of failing in their education or failing in their social interactions / friendships - with many also suffering from severe psychological bullying and isolation.
It all works – and we've seen it transform the lives of so many children
In order to help provide funds to support this great work, Rob & VickiI have signed up to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 2nd.
Running does not come naturally to either of us, but we figure the pain and potential humiliation will be worth it – particularly if we can convince some kind hearted friends and colleagues to sponsor us - and we're hoping you might be one of those people!
