Team Fundraisers
On Saturday 24th September my girls, Olivia and Ruby will be doing a fun run around Sherdley Park in aid of Wish CDG... A local charity run group which offers support to children and families affected by type 1 Diabetes.
This group has been an invaluable help for us since Rubys diagnosis in January 2015... after the initial shock and a stint in whiston hospital we learnt fast about blood testing and injections, night checks, carb counting everything Ruby eats and then last October the transition to an insulin pump. To say it was life changing is an understatement but with the help of the Wish group things began to become more manageable. The group offers monthly meetings, advice, friendship and a chance for the children to meet others who understand what being type 1 involves.
The group also works closely with Whiston paediatric diabetes team and through fundraising, provides the children with the chance to go on a brilliant residential where they can do a wide range of activities in preparation for school pgl's, sleepovers etc...
