Children's World is an amazing charity, but it needs our help, so a group of us are planning on running a really long way - and we'd like you to sponsor us! Why?
Founded on the belief that children are more creative and open to learning when they're having fun, Children's World works with children of all abilities across the UK and internationally, including important work in communities affected by war and natural/man made disaster. Their work is incredible, and you can read more about their workshops in special and mainstream schools, and internationally (for example in refugee camps) here: http://www.childrensworldcharity.org.
CW have been doing this well, and responsibly, since 1981. However, as most of the funds raised to run Children's World come from their organisation of the backstage and customer cafes and bar in the Theatre and Circus area of Glastonbury Festival, 2018's fallow year is a bit of a crisis for the charity. You can read more about that here: https://www.glastofestfeed.com/features/glastonbury-charity-childrens-world-closure/.
Vicky and Lewis volunteer for Children's World every year at Glastonbury (for more than 20 years between them!) and since we can't do that this year with no festival, we are doing something else! We have convinced Lewis' brother Reece and Mum Alison to join us in running the Bristol Half Marathon together on 23 September 2018, and Vicky is also going on to run the Yorkshire Marathon a couple of weeks later on Sunday 14 October... that's 78.6 miles between us! Lewis, Reece, and his Mum are all quite new to running, and Vicky is coming back from a back injury sustained in a car accident, so we are working as a team to support each other in training and at the race.
Help us to support Children's World the way CW have supported and bring smiles to the faces of children for more than 37 years - it can't stop now, so nor will we!
